![]() ![]() Beset on all sides by liars, schemers and conflicting agendas, Raziel is tortured both by his misshapen form and in choosing what is best for Nosgoth. It follows then that all the major players have their own designs for Raziel in trying to influence his actions. In LoK, the flow of time, preordained fate and destiny are fundamental themes and Raziel is the wild card in the deck stacked against the world. ![]() Cinematics and exposition are the game's primary focus and provide an inner window into Raziel's own thoughts, desires, doubts and emotions as well as his dealings with major characters of the series, such as Kain, Mobius, the Elder God, etc. The voice acting is among the best in videogaming history and brings alive all the wonderful characters. The story wouldn't be half of what it is without good characters and once again SR2 delivers. The game's exposition does a good job of retelling events and plots from Blood Omen without requiring one to have played that game first, though I would personally recommend playing Blood Omen as it's a great game in it's own right. Instead, the story makes heavy use of plot threads woven together from Blood Omen, the first game in the LoK series. The story of SR2 is truly excellent and while it is the sequel to SR1 it has very little to do with the former story. From there Raziel continues his quest for revenge, to learn about his own history and identity, and to seek a way to prevent the apocalyptic wasteland that became of Kain's Nosgoth. Mobius the timestreamer plucks Raziel out of the timestream and he finds himself hundreds of years into the past to the precise time that Ariel, the former balance guardian, is murdered. Beaten by Raziel, Kain activates the Chronoplast and, revenge unsated, Raziel follows into the timestream. 8h 20m PlayedLegacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2 picks up immediately following the events of the previous game. ![]()
